Networking – The Art of Following Up
Email Signoffs
Both law students and attorneys can be bad about following up after
meeting a potential contact. Don’t just take a business card without intending to
contact that person! Follow-ups can be a phone call to the number listed on the
business card but typically the follow-ups are done via email.
Your follow-up email should include an appropriate sign-off word or phrase
toward the end right before your name. While it is certainly an option, not having
a sign-off at all may feel a little too impersonal to the recipient so you probably
should include one. And even if your email address includes your name, make
sure you still put your name on the bottom of your email immediately after the
signoff.
